"I would love for my daughter to have a career in STEM that’s why storytelling about DNA or pulmonology especially at souch a young age is so interesting…I didn’t get this type of exposure when I was younger, so to see my daughter getting it at the Kindle Corner Sessions is is amazing"

Circular Economy Project Manager Camden Council

“Camden Council had the pleasure to work with Kindle Corner at a Christmas event on 16 December 2022 at Chalton Street Market in Somers Town. We were impressed by their well-organised and thoroughly planned participation at the event. Through their extensive community network and local partnership work, they helped us to promote our event and brought a very diverse crowd to the event. Their commitment to the community was hugely appreciated by all visitors. The event was very well-attended by residents and families, most of whom came through the Kindle Corner network. We look forward to continuing working collaboratively with Kindle Corner and delivering many more successful events for the community of Somers Town in the future.”

Testimonials

“Through storytelling, we want to continue to build a community that is nurturing, inclusive and engaged in positive change. Our focus is to enable children to thrive in schools, empower our youth to succeed in society, and engage our residents in actions towards a sustainable future for all of us.”- Salina Khatun, Founder

In 2021, Salina started delivering virtual storytelling sessions to children across the UK. Her passion and efforts have translated into Kindle Corner which has now grown to a dedicated team of volunteers, supporters and partnerships across London with the British Library, The Francis Crick Institute, The Living Center and Camden Council. The simple act of ‘storytelling’ has resonated across each of the initiatives of the charity; early learning workshops, mentorship programmes and community engagement, and have created a community centered on belonging, understanding and shared purpose.

Tesco Stronger Starts

We are thrilled to be voted by Tesco customers as one of the leading local charities providing excellent services to the community. We are grateful to Tesco and Groundwork, the national charity, for providing us with the opportunity to build on our existing programs. Our aim is to use these funds for an interactive Confidence-Building Camp in Spring 2025 to help them thrive in their school and social lives.

HOLIDAYS & ACTIVITIES PROGRAM (HAF)

For the third year in a row, we conducted our popular holiday camps in December 2024. Working with Camden Giving, we offered children four days of stimulating physical and creative activities, healthy food and interactive learning experiences. This year, the children spent two days at the local Basil Jellicoe call, followed by visits to explore the Young V & A Museum, and to experience a fun workshop at the Discover Children’s Story Centre.

RANGLA BENGALI STORIES

Rangla is a word celebrating the ‘vibrant’ culture and tradition of its people. Our second program with The Last Word, the community hub at The British Library offers weekly sessions filled with rich, colourful and cultural stories, reading, and writing in Bengali. These interactive workshops are held every Tuesday from 4-6pm by Mrs Begum, one of our community members and Bengali expert.
